Story 112

[Figma interactive stotytelling prototype, digital illustrations]

A prototype of an interactive storytelling website tackling the problem of lèse-majesté law in Thailand. Which is a crime according to Section 112 of the Thai Criminal Code, stating that it is “illegal to defame, insult, or threaten the monarch of Thailand (king, queen, heir-apparent, heir-presumptive, or regent)”. Its maximum penalty can be as high as 15 years in jail which is unreasonably too high even compared to other Defamation laws or any other laws.

Story112 is told through different local/everyday objects in first-person narrative. It is a fictional story that based on the real experiences of people persecuted by this law. The audience will be asked to choose three out of nine different objects, one from each horizontal row. the first row suggests the starting point, the second row suggests the situation during the legal persecution, and the final row is how it (, if it ever) ends.

There are nine objects, three will be used at a time to complete the stories. Thus, there are in total 27 possible routes.
